Eric Hill

Biography

Eric Hill was born in Holloway, North London in 1927. As a graphic designer he was working on a novelty advertising mailer with flaps to lift up. The flaps made his two-year-old son laugh, so Eric created a lift-the-flap book especially for him about a mischievous puppy called Spot. Spot made his first appearance in 1980 in an innovative picture book which instantly became a best-seller. The range of Spot books has expanded to over 100 titles, which have been translated into over 60 languages and sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. Spot also stars in his own television and video adventures.

"It gives me great pleasure to know that the puppy I invented for my own son has brought so much enjoyment to so many other children in many different countries and cultures."

Spot is a friendly, bouncy puppy who loves playing and making friends. His adventures are full of fun and gentle humour as he explores the world around him with great enthusiasm and interest. Eric Hill and his family now live in California.
