Biography
Based in London, Mark York has worked as a professional photographer since 1993. Self-taught, in the early 1990s he honed his skills by assisting some of London's top editorial and advertising photographers. His own work has since been published in many books, magazines and periodicals Worldwide. He is a contributor to the French, Italian and Russian editions of Conde Nast's AD, and has also been featured in, A+U (Japan), Elle, Elle Decor, House & Garden, and in The Sunday Times 'Style' Magazine.
In 1998 he received an Association of Photographers Merit award for his image of 'The Card Players, Sedile Dominova'. This image was exhibited at The Association of Photographers' Gallery in London, and formed part of an exhibition that subsequently toured throughout Europe.
In 2008 'The Card Players' was exhibited at the newly-opened Saatchi Gallery at the Duke of York's Square in Chelsea. His photography has also been exhibited at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, and at The Affordable Art Fair in Battersea with the Ingo Fincke Gallery.
