My work questions the space between abstraction and realism. The subject matter, sometimes the most mundane scene, is pared down to all but the bare essentials. I seek out form and perspective – be it an urban cul-de-sac or a rural farmhouse – it’s the banal that attracts me. Incidental details, such as road markings or rubbish bins, serve as jolts of reality in otherwise solemn and nondescript landscapes.
